Dennis G. Shaffer, CEO and President of Civista Bancshares, Inc. and CEO of Civista Bank, joined the company in 2009. Shaffer is also vice chairman of the board of directors for both entities. He held several roles including Chief Lending Officer of the bank prior to his appointment as President of the bank and corporation in April 2014, and CEO of the bank and corporation in December 2017. Shaffer has 40 years of banking experience, beginning his career with The Ohio Bank in 1985. He also was senior vice president and district president for the former Sky Bank's Columbus, Ohio region before becoming senior vice president in charge of investment real estate at Huntington Bank. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University, the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin and the Ohio School of Banking. Shaffer actively serves in various leadership roles for several organizations. He currently serves as a member on the State of Ohio Banking Commission, the Greater Sandusky Partnership board of Directors and the Cancer Support Community of Central Ohio's board of directors.
